KYOGI INNOVATIOS (3 ECTS) 15.11.-15.12.2022

What can you do with thin veneer or plywood? How do desing and woodbased material connect to bioeconomy? What would it be like to work in multicultural, multidisciplinary groups?

Here’s your chance to find out!

Join us for an international, online Kyogi Innovations programme! During the course you will get a basic understanding of forest bioeconomy and innovation methods and design new ways to utilise thin plywood and Japanese kyogi (thin veneer).

The programme consists of recorded lectures and short assignment(s) based on them (15.11.-9.12.2022) and an innovation phase (13.-15.12.2022). The preliminary
phase can be completed independently to your own schedule.

During the innovation phase you will work online in a multicultural and multidisciplinary group and build up your capacity in creative thinking, group work skills, problem solving and innovation methods.

CircularBio Innovations

CircularBio Innovations Hackathon part, 2 credit units 4.4.-11.4.2022 


The course consists of lectures, participation in the CircularBio Innovations Hackathon and group work. Lecture topics include circular economy, service design, commercialisation, innovations and more.

The Hackathon part of the course is implemented as an eight-day event, with lectures, coaching and group work between 15:00 and 18:00 (EEST), also during the weekend. You will receive coaching and guidance throughout the process from our working life partners and staff members from the organising universities and our partner universities. 

The training is intended for students from all disciplines and staff members of companies, associations, cooperatives and freelancers as well as other industries that are interested in cooperating and developing the bio- and circular economy in their respective fields.  

After the course, you will be able to innovate, develop and discover solutions to the company’s bio- and circular economy challenges in cross-cutting sectors groups and make use of the tools of bio- and circular economy development and methods as part of the innovation process. You will also have a basic understanding of service/product design and commercialisation.

Sustainable Solutions for Circular Bio-based World, 5 ECTS ​​

 

Time: 27.9.-8.10.2021

Bioeconomy sector is growing rapidly. ​The purpose is to reduce dependence on fossil resources.​ Transition to bioeconomy needs knowledge of available possibilities and ability to create new innovations. This course is created to give answers to these challenges.

Course is aimed at international undergraduate, master and Ph.D. students and young postdoc researchers, practitioners and professionals from industry or public sector.

After the course:
The student will understand the concepts of forest bioeconomy and circularity.
The student will learn topical issues of bioeconomy both in Chile and Finland.
The student will receive comprehensive overview of environmentally friendly bioeconomy solutions and are able to apply their knowledge to solve problems related to bioeconomy sector.

Participation is limited to 42 students. From 42 places 21 places is booked for the students from organizing universities. Registered will be informed of acceptance to the course on 24.9. latest.

The course will be held online. Platforms will be Zoom and Moodle.

Schedule of the course

1st week 27.9.-1.10.2021, ​2nd week 4.10.-8.10.2021​. Timing of lectures at 8-12 am UTC -3 and 2-6 pm UTC +3 (EEST).
