Bioeconomy is a wide concept including forestry, fisheries and aquatic environments, agriculture (food production), part of the chemical industry, part of construction (timber construction) and part of the energy industry (bio-based energy sources). Networking is one of the key factors in building competence across different branches of bioeconomy.
As a collaboration between bioeconomy education and R&D activities, the existing local ecosystems have been identified as perfect operating platforms for the network. In Eastern Finland, ecosystems are Green Hub in North Karelia and Bio- and circular economy cluster in North Savo. Ecosystems aim for cooperation in research, business development and education. Joint competence development and training offer support the functioning of ecosystems and all parties benefit from joint communication.
